This Fall Auditions for Shrek the Musical!
Something BIG is coming to the swamp!** 💚
For the first time ever, DACT is extending the audition age through 24 years old for our upcoming production of Shrek the Musical!
Why the change?
Because we're producing the full-length Broadway version of Shrek, which requires a larger cast and offers incredible opportunities for mentorship and collaboration.
We also want to reassure our DACT families of something very important:
💚 Our mission has not changed.
DACT has always been—and will continue to be—a children's theatre. Our heart is to serve and develop young performers, and that remains our priority.
Here's what that means:
✨ Children and teens (ages 3–18) will continue to be prioritized in casting, including lead roles.
✨ Our older performers (ages 19–24) are being welcomed not to replace our young actors, but to support them—bringing experience, encouragement, mentorship, and shadowing opportunities that help our younger performers grow both on and off the stage.
✨ As always, we will also continue to honor our commitment to serving military families through our casting and programming.
This is an exciting opportunity to build a cast that reflects the heart of Shrek: a community where everyone belongs, everyone has something valuable to offer, and we become stronger by lifting one another up.
Whether you're 3 or 24, there's a place for you in the swamp—but our mission remains exactly the same: creating exceptional theatre experiences that put children first.
